Hospice Facility

A state-of-the-art end-of-life center that welcomes the community to care, learn, and provide whole-person hospice care.

Recognizing that Missoula’s absence of a hospice house is unusual for a city of our size, a group of Missoulians came together to build a facility for our community. The Partners Hope Foundation wants to provide a peaceful environment for end-of-life hospice care for both patients and their families. Loci developed a project vision, building program, initial cost estimates, needs analysis, and developed marketing images for a capital campaign during initial programming phases, and provided full design and construction administration services for the completed facility.
The building mass draws from the iconic ‘house’ form, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. Thoughtful, framed views from interior spaces to surrounding gardens and mountains beyond provide privacy and separation of care rooms from community and family gathering spaces. Acoustics, thermal comfort, daylighting, and visual site lines cultivate safety, foster connection, and calm the body’s response to perceived stress. Atmosphere, affect, and ambiance are equally as important as program, plan, and systems.
